Long-Term Strategy:

    • Build relationships and trust with key stakeholders in school districts and non-profit communities focusing on ECE and OST programs in all 3 localities
    • Partner with multilateral stakeholders that would allow an increase in capacity for quality work
    • Support targeted interventions that increase opportunities for disadvantaged students from pre-k through middle school

Grantmaking Support is Targeting:

Funding an additional pre-kindergarten classroom through the Virginia Pre-K Initiative (VPI) in Winchester, VA

  • Increasing access for an additional 18 low-income 4-year old students
  • Classroom will be activated for the 2021-2022 school year
  • 3-year MOU with Winchester Public Schools (WPS)
  • Funding will cover a licensed teacher, aide, classroom, curricula, and materials•J2W will act as the local match in partnership with the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Goal will be to demonstrate measurable success and transition funding to WPS in Year-4

Establishing a multi-lateral partnership to help the YMCA of the Chesapeake bring in the Early Learning Readiness Program to Dorchester County, MD

  • Providing multi-year pilot grant to fund the cost of (and bring to Dorchester County) the evidence-based YMCA ELRP program
  • Working with NHP/Operation Pathways residential complex to secure a suitable community center location to run the program
  • Assisting with the development and measurement of performance indicators to ensure positive outcomes
  • Will transition program funding to the YMCA in Year 4 to ensure sustainability
